Turkey is one of Europe's largest exporters of fresh produce, processed food, flowers and pharmaceuticals — all cargo types that require unbroken cold chain management. KEY Forwarding provides end-to-end temperature-controlled logistics from loading at Turkish production or warehouse facilities through customs and final delivery across Europe and the Middle East.
What Cold Chain Means for Turkish Exporters
A cold chain is only as strong as its weakest link. For Turkish exporters, the critical moments are: pre-cooling at the packing house or warehouse, loading under temperature control, the Kapikule or Ipsala border crossing (where vehicles may idle for hours), and final delivery at the European importer's warehouse. We coordinate pre-booking of ATP vehicles, real-time temperature monitoring and alert systems, and priority border crossing lanes where available.
ATP-Certified Reefer Trucks
All refrigerated vehicles in our partner network carry valid ATP certificates, as required for the international carriage of perishable foods under the UN/ECE agreement. Classes available: Class A (0°C to +12°C), Class B (-10°C to +12°C), Class C (-20°C to +12°C), and Class D/E for frozen cargo (−20°C). Multi-temperature vehicles for mixed loads are available on select lanes.
Reefer Container Shipping
For high-volume cold cargo, we offer refrigerated FCL (Full Container Load) and LCL (Less than Container Load) services by sea. Ambarlı (Istanbul) and Mersin ports offer regular reefer container services to European ports (Rotterdam, Hamburg, Genoa, Barcelona) and Middle East destinations. Our sea freight team ensures pre-trip inspection of reefer units and continuous monitoring during ocean transit.
Cold Storage: Istanbul and Mersin
We partner with cold storage facilities near Istanbul (Gebze/Tuzla) and Mersin port for cargo that requires pre-export holding, cross-docking or bonded cold storage awaiting customs clearance. Temperature zones available: +2°C to +8°C (chilled), -18°C (blast frozen), and controlled room temperature (CRT) for pharmaceuticals.
